It’s road trip season, and we can’t wait to hit the road. Before you head out on your next adventure, it’s important to ensure your Toyota is ready to go the extra mile. Follow these four steps before packing up the car to make sure your road trip goes smoothly.
- Check your windshield wipers. You never know when a summer storm is going to hit, not to mention all the bugs will end up smashed on your windshield. If your wipers are streaking the glass, making a loud sound when operating, or bouncing as they go back and forth, it may be time for a new pair. If you need a new pair before hitting the road, stop by and save with us. While you’re checking on the wipers, it’s good practice to make sure you have windshield wiper fluid as well.
- Change your oil. Even if it’s not quite time for an oil change, this will help ensure your engine is running smooth for the long road ahead. High temperatures can affect the performance of your car, too, so this can help you avoid any troubles.
- Do a walk around. Look to see if your tires are low on air or if the tread is worn. If your tires look a little flat, check to make sure there are no punctures or foreign objects in the tire. To know if your car’s tread is low, take a penny and place Abe Lincoln’s head into a groove. If his head is not covered by the tread, it may be time to bring your car in to have your tires changed.
- Schedule a checkup. We can quickly take a look at your car and perform basic maintenance on your vehicle in addition to making sure there are no other issues with your vehicle before you hit the road. Be sure to let us know if you’re headed on a long trip so we can double check all levels.
Once your Toyota has been tuned up, you’ll be able to travel stress-free knowing that everything is running right. What are you waiting for? Pack your car up and hit the road to your next adventure.
