Albuquerque is in the dog days of summer and all we want to do is curl up in front of a fan with a big bowl full of ice cream. With the temperatures consistently in the 90s, it’s time to get creative with how to stay cool this summer. The pool? That was done last week and the week before that. Refresh your calendar with these cool activities.

Lace up your skates
Contrary to popular belief, winter isn’t the only time for ice sports. Head to an ice rink to get a dose of cold air while trying out a new sport. If you don’t have skates, that’s okay. Rentals run at about $3.00.

Head to Outpost Ice Arena for public skate where prices range from $1.00 to $10.00 depending on age. The rink offers nearly 1/5 of a mile of skating with two different rinks. Check out the rink’s open public skate times here for July.

If ice skating seems a little daunting, roller skating may be more your speed. Roller King offers summer skating throughout the day in addition to family night that comes with a free slice of pizza for each paid skater.

Want to skate without all the kids around? Show up for adult night at Roller King for $5.00, plus a $3.00 skate rental if you don’t have your own. Don’t forget your I.D. because you’ll need it to get in for the evening.

Take a drive

If your A/C is feeling a little weak, your air filters may be restricting the air flow due to excessive contamination from the dust and particles it has caught. It’s an easy fix that we can perform quickly for you. Save this July only and we’ll make sure you’re not sweating in a sweltering car.

Jam with the animals

Sometimes it’s best to just wait until the sun goes down to participate in outdoor activities. During the summer, you can enjoy Zoo Music and Summer Nights on Thursday and Friday nights at the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo and Botanic Garden. Bring your picnic blanket and enjoy the evening with food and cool beverages. The animal exhibits are open until 8 p.m.
