The Toyota Camry has been the top-selling passenger car in America for 14 years -- but did you know it is also one of the most American-made cars?
Each year, Cars.com compiles a list of cars that are assembled in the United States, and made with at least 75 percent American components. Meeting those two simple requirements is getting harder and harder for many companies. The Cars.com American-Made Index used to cap its list at 10 vehicles, but in 2016, only 8 models even qualified. Only three were manufactured by American-held brands.
The 2016 Toyota Camry was ranked No. 1 on the AMI this year.
"This recognition from Cars.com is a tribute to Toyota employees, not only those at the plant who build the Camry, but the broader Toyota team who design, engineer, market and finance the vehicle in the United States," said Bob Carter, Toyota senior vice president of automotive operations. "We also support local suppliers and economies, and we have invested more than $6 billion into our Kentucky operations alone, which is growing with our new production engineering campus under construction there."
At Larry H. Miller American Toyota Albuquerque, you'll find a large selection of new vehicles built in the United States, like the Tundra, Tacoma, Avalon, Corolla, and more.
