Been there, done that... Four years ago this month. #TundraEndeavour #TBT

On October 12, 2012, the Space Shuttle Endeavour was on its way from Los Angeles International Airport, to the California Science Center, where it would be retired and put on display for the public.

Many space enthusiasts still mourn NASA's shuttle program, which ended with Endeavour, but here at Larry H. Miller American Toyota Albuquerque, we remember something worth celebrating on that day just over four years ago. That's because a Toyota Tundra got to show off its might (and its patriotism as an American designed, engineered, and manufactured pickup) by towing the nearly 300,000-pound spacecraft across the Manchester Boulevard overpass.

The event was not staged, apart from a few strobe lights added for the sake of the commercial. The robotic rigs that hauled the space shuttle along most of its journey were too heavy to cross the overpass, so the Tundra was called upon to do the job.

Toyota has been a long-time supporter of the California Science Center, and is dedicated to technological innovation as an automaker. The Toyota Tundra is also one of the most reliable pickups on the market. The same 2007 model Tundra that pulled the space shuttle also proved capable of staying on the road past 1 million miles.
